“DAME CHOCOLATE”

 

The network’s new original production marks the anticipated return of actor and singer / songwriter CARLOS PONCE to the Spanish-language TV screen.

The novela is being produced out of Telemundo Studios in Miami, FL

MIAMI, Fla. -- December 11, 2006 -- At an event held today in Miami Beach, FL, Telemundo, a leading producer of innovative and high-quality content for Hispanics in the U.S., announced the production kick-off of its next original novela out of its Telemundo Studios in Miami, “Dame Chocolate.” This new original production by Telemundo marks the anticipated return of actor and singer/songwriter Carlos Ponce to the Spanish-language TV screen, who stars in the novela alongside a magnificent cast that includes, among others, Génesis Rodríguez, Héctor Suárez, and María Antonieta de las Nieves (‘La Chilindrina’), for the first time on the Telemundo screen.  “Dame Chocolate” is an original story by Perla Farías and is set to launch in the 1^st quarter of 2007.  

“This is one of the most beautiful projects we have undertaken and we are very excited that it lured Carlos Ponce to return to Spanish-language television,” said Patricio Wills, president, Telemundo Television Studios. “The production team has done a remarkable development job to produce a refreshing novela full of color and, of course, lots of romance.”

“Dame Chocolate” is set in two very different worlds that will be joined by two irresistible forces: love and chocolate. The novela tells the story of Rosita Amado (Rodríguez), a young woman with an amazing body but an unattractive face, and Bruce Remington (Ponce), the handsome heir to a Chocolate factory which is near bankruptcy. Their lives unexpectedly intertwine and amidst impossible circumstances blooms a beautiful love story as fascinating as the alluring smell of chocolate.

To give life to Rosita’s town, where nature and magic are the main characters, Telemundo’s production team has done an in-depth study of the ancestral magic of Latin America, in particular of the náhuatl zone in México and has traveled to the city of Homestead, FL to establish the Amado household. To give Rosita’s house a touch of magic and color, the art department has done a remarkable scenic work, including creating an actual cacao field in the lot behind the house. The Remington mansion is being recreated in the exclusive zone of Star Island in Miami Beach, where Telemundo has renewed and painted the house to establish the lavish lifestyle of the Remington family. The chocolate factory that will be center to the story and the rest of the sets are being created from scratch in Telemundo Studios.

“Dame Chocolate’s” stellar cast includes Carlos Ponce, Génesis Rodríguez, María Antonieta de las Nieves, Héctor Suárez, Kristina Lilley, Khotán, Ricardo Chávez, and Karla Monroig, among others. The novela will be directed by Luis Manzo (Tierra de Pasiones). General Producer, Jairo Arcila.  Executive Producer and Creative Director, Aurelio Valcarcel.

MIAMI, Fla. – 11 de diciembre del 2006 – En un evento llevado a cabo hoy en la ciudad de Miami Beach, Telemundo anunció el comienzo de la producción de su próxima telenovela grabada en los Estudios Telemundo Miami, "Dame Chocolate”. Esta nueva producción original de Telemundo marca el esperado regreso a la pantalla chica del talentoso actor y cantautor Carlos Ponce, quien protagoniza la novela junto a un elenco estelar que incluye, entre otros, a Génesis Rodríguez, Héctor Suárez y María Antonieta de las Nieves (‘La Chilindrina”) por primera vez en Telemundo. “Dame Chocolate” es una historia original de Perla Farías y está pautada para lanzarse durante el primer trimestre de 2007.

"Este es uno de los proyectos más hermosos que hemos desarrollado y estamos muy contentos que Carlos Ponce lo haya escogido para hacer su regreso a la televisión hispana”, dijo Patricio Wills, presidente de Telemundo Television Studios. “El equipo de producción ha realizado un gran trabajo de desarrollo para poder crear una novela fresca, con mucho colorido y, por supuesto, mucho romance”.

"Dame Chocolate" está enmarcada en dos mundos completamente distintos que se unirán por dos fuerzas irresistibles: el amor y el chocolate.  La novela cuenta la historia de Rosita Amado (Rodríguez), una muchacha de bellísimas proporciones pero con un rostro poco agraciado, y de Bruce Remington (Ponce), un apuesto joven heredero de una fábrica de Chocolates que está al borde de la quiebra. La vida de ambos se entrelazará de una manera inesperada y en medio de insólitas circunstancias nacerá una bella historia de amor tan fascinante como el aroma del chocolate. 

Para recrear el pueblo de Rosita donde reina la naturaleza y la magia ancestral, el equipo de producción de Telemundo ha hecho un estudio extenso de la magia ancestral de los pueblos latinos, en particular de la zona náhuatl en México, y se ha trasladado a la ciudad de Homestead, FL para establecer la casa Amado.  Para darle un toque de magia y color al hogar de Rosita, el departamento de arte ha hecho una ardua labor de escenografía que incluye un sembrado de cacao en la parte de atrás de la misma casa utilizada en la producción. La mansión Remington está siendo replicada en la exclusiva área de Star Island en Miami Beach, dándole toques de pintura y remodelación para establecer la imagen de esa familia en la novela. La fábrica de Chocolates y el resto de los escenarios están siendo construidos en su totalidad en los Estudios Telemundo.  

“Dame Chocolate” cuenta con un gran elenco que incluye a Carlos Ponce, Génesis Rodríguez, María Antonieta de las Nieves, Héctor Suárez, Kristina Lilley, Khotán, Ricardo Chávez y Karla Monroig, entre otros. La novela será dirigida por Luis Manzo (Tierra de Pasiones). Su productor general es Jairo Arcila.  Productor ejecutivo y director creativo, Aurelio Valcarcel.
